Barrel racing

Helloooooooo..... So in this blog im going to teach you how to barrel race. In barrel racing you have 3 barrels and you run a clover leaf pattern. You run with a horse its about making sure you run the pattern right and that you dont hit any barrels. If  you hit a barrel its a 5 second penilty if you knock a barrel down. Its pretty plain and simple. You want to make sure your horse knows the surroundings in the arena. Once my horse flipped out and started reiring and bucking and then finally i made him run around the barrels. Okay well now on to learning how to barrel race. 

       Okay to start off you need to make sure your horse already knows how to barrel race. Your horse at least needs to how to run the pattern. He/she doesn't need to be an expert or the first time. You need to make sure you have all the right supplies or tack. First of all you need to have a bridle and a saddle. The saddle either can be an all around saddle or a barrel saddle. The next thing you are going to need to have is a bridle and reins. I perfer to have short reins than long reins because when your running your reins could get stuck or your horse may trip. The last two things are a breast collar and spurs. Spurs are optional.  Breast collars wrap on to the saddle but it goes around the  chest. 

           After you have all your tack you will need to have a truck a horse trailer gas and money to pay for you entry fee. The entry fees can be very expensive.

My life

Since this blogging is like my diary, I'm gonna tell you about my life. I do alot of things in my life. That all includes sports, barrel racing, pole bending, and sorting cows. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family. I also show animals. I show animals such as horses,pigs,goats,and steers. When my mom was around my age she liked to show. She showed steers and pigs. She really enjoys teaching us how to work well with our animals and how you shouldn't get mad when they are not cooperating with us.  Before we go in the show ring for market or even showmanship she tells us to take a deep breath and we will be all fine.

      Well let me tell you about the first animal i like to show. The first animal is a steer. I showed a steer when i was about 8 years old. Steers are alot of work. With a steer you need great companion ship and you also need to be able to work well work well with them. My first steers name i showed was named Charming. He was a Black Angus. He was very calm and gentle. My dad was a great supporter and so was my mom. My parents help me catch him and out the halter on him, but after that i was all on my own. You wanna make sure that you have a great relationship and work with them alot over the summer. Let me tell you something, the quote i remember every time i'm in that show ring is this "success is not final and failure is not fatal, its the courage to continue that counts". 

         The second thing i really enjoy to do is barrel race with my horse.  The whole thing that you do is run a cloverleaf pattern which has 3 barrels in  it  I have been doing the Circle A rodeo in Keenesburg Colorado. My horse means the world to me my favorite horse quote is that "he may knock a barrel down but at least he wont break my heart!" I get people everyday that ask me why do you like to barrel race. I tell them that it gets all my stress and sad things out of my way. Barrel racing just makes me feel like i am meant to be on this world and live my dream. 

          I've gotta say that i am so happy right now!!!!! I just got three pigs! The first pigs name is frisky. btw hes my pig. The second pigs name is rebel, and the third pigs name is piggie. My pigs are only 6 weeks old. They are very frisky. The first day we got them they just ran the pen but now they have calmed down! We got them Sunday morning. These days pigs are very expensive one of my friends bought a pig for 1100$ and it died two days later. 

     Well now you know what i enjoy doing in my free time. I love to work with animals and i love to work in the sun and get that nice summer feeling. People say if you don't put sunscreen on you will get skin cancer! Well that's a true fact.  You need to make sure you put sunscreen on. I sometimes forget to put sunscreen on and its really harsh on your skin. You can get so many skin spots and they look horrible! Just a reminder is to always wear sunscreen. :)
